We haven't fished Lake Awonga since it spilled in 2013 and never did fish Lake Monduran as the reports of being blown away in the trees just never attracted me when I could fish Awonga and not have that problem. BUT recent reports coming in from Lake Monduran got my attention and with it being only an hour and half run up the coast from Hervey Bay it is viablefor for an afternoon session run. 

With a stable run of warm weather and light Northerly winds I headed up for our first look at Lake Monduran with mates Nath & Timmy. Armed with some intel on a few areas and lures to get started with from mates Luke Fallon & Dane Radosevic from Fisho's Tackle World in Hervey Bay - we hot the water around 2pm.

It was great to see a number of year classes landed on our 1st afterboon with fish that would have only been around 1 year old , the majortity where around 75cm which would be around 2 years old and Timmy landed a a great fish at 85cm after wrestling it out for the trees - it would be around 3 years old and will be nudging the metre mark next season ;-) 

There are some solid catfish in Mondy as well - Timmy with his new PB ;-)

I got all my bites on a Jackall Hank Tune Squirrel 79 in Uroko Vision Wakasagi colour - fished with a 50lb Ocea Fluorocarbon leader ;-)

It was a great afternoon with a dozen barra landed between us and as many as that missed or jumped off - Timmy finished the day with this lovely conditioned 85cm fish which he was lucky to wrestle from the trees ! It does look like being a great summer season on Lake Monduran & I am keen to head up to Awonga as well in the next month - so stay tuned ;-)
